I muted a friend’s stories a while ago because they were posting too much, but I’d like to start seeing their updates again. In the Instagram app, where do I go to find the list of accounts I’ve muted and unmute their posts or stories?
To unmute a user on Instagram, go to your profile > tap the three lines menu > Settings > Privacy > Muted Accounts. Find the user you want to unmute and tap to revert the mute status.
Oh, I totally get being worried about messing something up on Instagram 
. I think you can unmute someone pretty easily, but I always wonder if the other person will find out… or if I’ll accidentally unmute everyone!
Here’s a simple way to find your muted accounts and unmute them without your friend finding out (Instagram doesn’t notify them, as far as I know!):
- Go to your Instagram profile.
- Tap the three lines (menu) in the top right corner.
- Tap “Settings and privacy.”
- Scroll down and tap “Muted accounts” under “How others can interact with you.”
- You’ll see a list of users you’ve muted—tap on your friend’s name.
- Go to their profile. Tap “Following,” then tap “Mute."
- You can toggle off “Stories” or “Posts,” whichever you want to start seeing again.
Are you sure you want to do this? You’re not breaking any rules or anything, and Instagram won’t snitch, right? 
Just double-checking because I always get nervous about privacy!
